As the year winds down, I’ve been reflecting on my experience with the Mayo Clinic 5K training plan. It truly exceeded my expectations. The structure was clear, the progression felt manageable, and I appreciated how it balanced challenge with sustainability. One of my biggest takeaways was learning to give myself permission to repeat a week when I didn’t feel ready for the next interval or when the weather interrupted my training. I was not ready for the -28 windchill in December! Instead of seeing a repeated week as a setback, it became a reminder that progress isn’t linear and listening to my body is part of the process.
I’m proud of how far this plan has taken me. Now I’m looking ahead to my next goal: training for a 10K in 2026. This 5K journey has given me confidence to take that next step.
